Katy ISD continues to set the pace as one of the nation’s top school Districts with 1,926 students earning academic honors through the College Board National Recognition Program. Overall, more than 300,000 recipients were awarded across the U.S., marking the program’s highest participation year to date.

Katy ISD continues to rank among the top school districts in Texas and the nation, earning an A+ overall grade, the Top Large School District in the Houston area and Texas and the No. 2 spot overall among Best School Districts in the Houston Area in Niche’s 2027 rankings.

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees met Sept. 21 and approved the District’s Maintenance and Operations (M&O) and Debt Service Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rates, maintaining the District’s current overall tax rate of $1.1171 per $100 of property valuation. Trustees kept Katy ISD’s total tax rate fixed for the third straight year, with no increase. The rate funds the District’s day-to-day operations across more than 100 schools and support facilities and pays down existing debt.

Friday night lights are a rite of passage in many Texas communities. Katy ISD’s illustrious football history dates back to 1939, and a new chapter began in 2026 when the Freeman High School Golden Eagles took the field for their first varsity season. Senior captain Christopher “CJ” Beaty has spent the past three years helping build the foundation for that moment.

Katy ISD continues trailblazing academic achievement for large school districts, with 330 students earning the AP Capstone Diploma™ and 27 students earning the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™ during the 2025 – 2026 school year.
