In an effort to encourage myself to start writing again (and maybe psych myself up for NaNoWriMo), I've embarked on a mini-challenge which I am calling the October 13. The goal is to write 13 stories, one a day until Halloween, about 13 different fandoms, featuring 13 different Halloween or seasonally-themed prompts. I pick my fandom and prompt at random each morning, and I can think about my story as long as I want, but I have only 13 minutes to actually write the snippet. Then I can make minor edits before posting.

I'm mainly posting these on my deviantart account, but I figured I'd cross-post here as I get the time to do so. I'm kind of excited since I'll be trying out several new fandoms, and I think it might give me the boost I need.

Day 1: The Not-Again Affair (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.; "party"; humor; PG)
Day 2: Self-Determination (Merlin; "cobwebs"; humor; PG)
Day 3: ?? (House; "ghosts"; ??)

So apparently I can post to livejournal from my new phone, which is pretty awesome, except for how it sometimes doesn't fornat correctly for my phone, and for some reason all the menus are in Russian... This hasn't become a problem yet since I know just the tiniest bit of russian, enough to get by... But it amuses me.

anywho, just figured I'd share.

… Yeah, not much of anything, actually. I’ll be tearing my hair out for the next few weeks, just trying to make it to May 13th. Shouldn’t be too bad after this week is finished but at the moment I’m kind of stressed out what with projects, group meetings, exams, etc etc etc.

I am not thrilled with the recent turn for the worse that the weather has taken. I was enjoying my 70 degree weather and sunshine! This rain is fine but it’s getting old quickly.

Mostly this post is just an excuse to try Windows Live Writer, which I downloaded just for the heck of it. It’s kind of cool but I’m not sure how well it will integrate with LJ.

I’m looking forward to summer, when I am going to sleep for an eon, and watch a billion movies, and maybe write a bit. I miss writing a lot but I just can’t seem to tease anything out in what little downtime I have.

Alrighty, see you in a month or so…

... at school, that is. I'm finally moved in to my apartment, my roommates are here, my job is going well, and classes start next week! I'm pretty excited about all these turns of events. Maybe I'll finally get the chance to sleep... eat... write a little... :)

( Cut 'cause it got a bit longCollapse )

Unfortunately, writing has been on a bit of a hiatus while I try to get resettled and get into the habit of going to work/school again. But I think it will be better once I'm back on a schedule! I can either do many things well, or few things poorly... I'm looking forward to doing many things well again! Next week I'm hoping to finish up chapter 2 of Transatlanticism, which will allow me to release chapters 3 and 4 as well. I'd also like to finish "Once Upon A Time" and "The Plot", two K/A fics which each have a bit of a twist. And, if I'm lucky, I'll get around to writing that Due South/Star Trek crossover I promised my roommate for her birthday. ;)

See ya!

So, I'll be out of town for the next three weeks, and chances are very good that I won't have any internet access. The upside of this is that any spare time I do have will be spent improving my mind (hah) and writing.

See you in June!

Sam :)

Hey folks! I have two Dreamwidth codes up for grabs! I'll give you three days to ask and then I will be distributing them via the code request thread on DW itself.

Also, if you're interested, my new dreamwidth page: whiterabbit1613.dreamwidth.org

I intend to use it more as a fic archive in the future. So far all of my fic from lj and all my fic from deviantart is posted there, complete with a shiny new set of tags, sorted by fandom, pairing, rating and more! I still have to add all the stuff I've posted in fakenews_fanfic, as well as my fic from fanfiction.net, and a bunch of old shit including original fiction that I plan on posting for its lolworthyness.

Ciao!

... I would like to take a moment to acknowledge that the new Star Trek movie was

OMG FUCKING AMAZING

At some point tomorrow I may be capable of more in depth analysis, but for the moment I will just say that -- Sulu's fold out sword was fucking KICK ASS. Also I would like to be like Uhura -- i.e. smart, pretty and freaking AWESOME at the same time. And I adore Spock's eyebrows.

I am so glad that this movie is good. I really would have been vastly disappointed if they didn't do it justice.

Live long and prosper (or, as we say here in France, longue vie et prosperité) scumbags!
