That's it.  I'm out.  I'm not going to give any more money to an industry that kills all of its workers far too early.  I'm done.

Random stuff - the return
This is an attempt to revive this once promising (or something) community.

Random wrestling topics.

What are your thoughts on...

1. Hulk Hogan's most recent comeback

2. SummerSlam as a whole

3. The whole Matt Hardy angle

4. Ric Flair being pushed as a major babyface

5. Kurt Angle gunning for a world title shot at the next PPV

Discuss.

The most legendary indy card you could come up with, I suppose
I was just surfing around and came across the website for "WresteReunion 2," which is taking place in New Jersey in late August, and I thought I'd share the card with you all. They've been able to land plenty of big names from the past (mainly, I'm assuming, by charging OUTRAGEOUS ticket prices, from the looks of it), and it looks like a dream show for anyone to see.

Main Event:

Larry Zbyszko (w. Ivan Koloff)
vs.
Diamond Dallas Page (w. Bruno Sammartino)

If Zybszko wins, he gets five minutes alone in the ring with Sammartino

Co-Main Event: 6-Man Tag Team Match

Mick Foley, Terry Funk, and Dory Funk, Jr. (w. Bobby Heenan)
vs.
The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Dennis Condrey, and Stan Lane) (w. Jim Cornette)

IWA Heavyweight Title Match:

Champion: Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
vs.
Tito Santana

Tag Team Match

Matt Hardy and Rhyno vs. The Dudley Boyz

Eight Man Elimination Tag Team Match

"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, The Missing Link, Dr. Tom Prichard, and D-Lo Brown
vs.
Steve Corino, The Original Evil Clown, Masked Superstar, and Andrew Martin (Test)

Mixed Tag Team Match

Wendi Richter, George South Jr., and The Patriot
vs.
Amy Love, DC Drake, and Gorgeous Gary Royal

"Father and Son Tag Team Match"

Don and Joe Muraco
vs.
Bob and Brad Armstrong

Special Legends Match: Russian Chain Match

"The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff (w. Nikolai Volkoff)
vs.
Domenic Denucci

Four Corners Tag Team Match

The Samoan Island Tribe (Samu and Alofa) (w. Sika the Wild Samoan)
vs.
The Fantastics
vs.
The Backseat Boyz
vs.
The Thunderfoots

Plus

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams
vs.
King Kahlua

Special In Ring Interview Segment

Bret "The Hitman" Hart

Acting Commissioner for the Evening

Nick Bockwinkel

I mean, seriously. Mick Foley? Terry Funk? TITO SANTANA?!?!? Holy cow.

Hardy and Rhino vs. The Dudleyz should be interesting. A lot could be said about that match alone.

They're having some big celebration of Bruno Sammartino's career that weekend, too. So here's my guess. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that Zybszko goes ahead and beats Page. But when he gets his five minutes with Sammartino, Bruno gets in there and shows off some 70-year old moves and puts the hurt on Larry. Seriously. The crowd would love that.

Dr. Death will be wrestling? That's sweet. And Bret Hart with an interview segment? That'll get the internet crowd talking quite a bit.

Jake, to answer your question, it looks like Greg Valentine ISN'T dead. In fact, he's a champion! Who knew?

Anyone know who invited The Patriot to this thing?

Benoit - Regal
I finally got my hands on a copy of that Chris Benoit-William Regal match from Velocity that the cyber world has been buzzing about recently. And I can vouch for the fact that it was indeed an awesome match, for those of you curious. Old school mat wrestling at its best. Counter after counter...perfect chain wrestling. If you're into watching wrestling for things like slamming a guy through a table or falling off a cage (hello, ECW fans), then it's not for you, because it's purely technical wrestling. But there is some blood (that looked legit in its origin) shed. Only a couple of times do we see a punch thrown or a kick set free. Overall just a great series of old school moves and a good display that really makes me want to get a copy of the Benoit-Regal match from the Brian Pillman Memorial a few years back, as I heard that was considered the "Match of the Year" by many circles.

So, Earl Hebner was released by the WWE yesterday for selling WWE merchandise without authorization.

It's sad to see a legend like Hebner let go, though the reason he's being fired makes me laugh.  Apparently TNA's already interested in him.  Is a referee really that big of a draw?  I hope they have a huge storyline with him.

Zach (Zack?) Gowen (Gowan?)
Anybody have any idea what Zach Gowen is up to these days?

I watched his match with John Cena the other night and thought, "Wow, he can do some neat things...but WOW, he's tiny and one-legged."

I was just curious if anyone knew if he was actually still pursuing his pro wrestling dreams. Because, if so, that's cool and all. But he might wanna beef that one leg that he does have up a little bit.

Am I wrong? Am I wrong?

Shane O'Mac Streetfight
I've been watching a lot of old wrestling stuff lately.

I just got done watching the Kurt Angle-Shane McMahon streetfight again. I kept replaying when Shane got dumped on his head over and over and over...

That guy can seriously take a beating, for being the boss's son and all. Amazing.

He needs to come around every six months or so and have another match where it looks like he's going to die. Craziness.

We're kinda like the nWo....recruiting people and all....Can I be Hogan?!?
Let me be the first to welcome our newest member, artemis_22288, to the community. Yeah, there are only four of us so far. But you have to start somewhere, right?

Feel free to invite others along. Also feel free to write as often as you want. Even if it's something you think is "dumb," if it's wrestling related, I'm sure we'll all enjoy it and have something to say about it.

You'll find that those of us who are here so far like the more obscure parts of wrestling, but we get into the more well known stuff, too. So no matter what you talk about, we'll have something to say. And the more posts there are here, the more likely that people will join us in our wrestling geekdom. Yay!

*ahem* Welcome.

Matt Hardy's fake shoot
How long do you think it'll be before Matt Hardy's "MFers" over at his website start turning over him after he lied to them all in his online journal? The "shoot" angle just happened last night, and, while amazingly surprising and provocative at the time, has seeemd to already get stale. Amazing, really. It was a ploy based on an online journal, and you try to sneak it past those very same people? This will only work for people who don't check out the online stuff...and for them, Matt Hardy is just one of "The Hardy Boyz" anyway. So Matt might not have a ton of success awaiting him with this comeback.

Although I'm sure the Hardy-Edge match that we can all expect for SummerSlam will be highly anticipated.

The King and Paul E.
I just read somewhere that Jerry Lawler may be the next to go in the recent WWE cuts. Sure, Jerry's gotten kinda out of hand the last few years, and maybe he's not quite as entertaining as the Jerry of old, but STILL...it's The King! It's like firing Bobby Heenan. You just don't do it. It's crazy talk.

Paul Heyman calling the shots in OVW. What do you think of that?

Hmmm, Brock will return, I don't think he'll leave to try another sport, but I do think he'll throw a tiff, or many tiffs, and then quit.

I'm glad Matt Hardy turned down the offer, I read the letter on his site, and he's got a good head on his shoulders right now.

I think Vince will capitalize on it and the Taker will cut a promo about killing the terrorists and dedicate his squash of them to the victims in London.

Terrorism and Venis - Two things the world can do without
I like how The Undertaker was attacked by "terrorists" right before the whole London thing. So they are having to watch their step on that one. Hassan may never catch a break.

Also, one of the "terrorists" was a masked Val Venis. That cracks me the f up that they keep him around year after year for no reason whatsoever and keep finding random things for him to do. Meanwhile, all these other wrestlers just got released. Someone mind telling me how Venis is keeping his job?
