So, how are you handling the fact that Destiny is no longer going to be getting new content, and also Sony/Bungie laid off nearly everyone who worked on it?

...Poorly. I am handling it poorly.

We had just started a new storyline after Final Shape. And it was good! It was so fucking good, and touching on things I'd been wanting for years! Praedyth, civil war in the Last City, the Bray family and Banshee-44! They had recast Banshee so they were obviously gonna do something with him! The Dredgens and Shin Malphur!

And it's all over because of years of corporate greed, stupidity and mismanagement by Bungie leadership and Sony.

They released Monomument to Triumph, the final update, and it is wonderful. It is so so good. It brought in Sparrow Racing League, a host of changes and improvements that people have wanted for ages, and beautiful lore. They've really worked hard to try and make the ending as good as they can, even if they're having to cut the story short. Turns out, when you let the developers actually do their jobs without money-men interfering, they come up with amazing things that people love!

A content creator called Fallout put it a good way - 'When you get everything you wanted for Christmas, but your parents are getting divorced'.

Byf, aka 'lore daddy' also compared what Bungie and Sony leadership had done well when he called them squanderers. They had Destiny, a game and an IP that has insane potential, that has so many fans and people who love it, and they just pissed it away out of greed.

I am so so fucking sick of the video game industry being run by greedy incompetent assholes who have never made anything creative in their lives, and who will lay off hundreds of people to make line go up a tiny bit more.

Grand Theft Auto VI is coming out later this year, and it will probably make more money than any video game ever. It will make insane amounts of profit.

And I am pretty certain that they are gonna lay off a tonne of people after it comes out because 'it didn't meet expectations'. No shit! Because the expectations for it are for it to be purchased by literally every single person on Earth.

Sony laid off some of the most creative, talented people and teams in the entire industry. That amount of institutional knowledge being lost is horrific. Seeing these people lose their jobs working on a game they loved is horrific.

It feels stupid to say I'm grieving, but I am. I keep thinking of it and I'm crying. Sure, the servers are remaining on, I'm not going away, but something I love has been killed and I hate it.

Honestly, what you're feeling is totally valid. I hate that Sony (and the video game industry as a whole) just keeps proving they're all about the corporate greed over people who work on their products and the fans who love them. :(

~I fear you're right. There's no way a game like GTAVI, even if it sells insanely well (which it will), is going to meet the crazy expectations Sony and company has set for it.
