For the purposes of this article, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:
Any street as herein defined having a width of twenty feet or less and having no legal or official name other than “alley.”
The executive official appointed to be in charge of the building inspection department.
A drain, conduit or pipe placed in a public ditch or channel to permit the flow of water there through and the crossing thereof from a public street or road to private property.
Entrance to and exit from private premises where it is possible to park completely off the street, and which is not open for vehicular traffic except by permission of the owner of such private property. (For the purpose of this article the definition of “private street” shall be the same as the definition of “driveway.”)
A building or portion thereof designed exclusively for residential occupancy by a family.
One or more individuals living together as a single housekeeping unit, as distinguished from a group occupying a boardinghouse, lodginghouse, or hotel.
A general term denoting a public way for the purpose of vehicular travel including the entire area within the right-of-way.
A raised platform for loading and unloading of materials.
A street or road primarily for access to residence, business or other abutting property.
A public street that carries high traffic volume and on which traffic control measures are used to expedite the safe movement of through traffic.
Any person afoot.
A dwelling unit, apartment house, townhouses or condominium.
The entire area between the boundaries required for roadway devoted to highway, street or road purposes.
The portion of a highway, including shoulders, for vehicular use.
That portion of a street between the curb lines of a roadway, and the adjacent property lines intended for the use of pedestrians.
