AlSat 3A and 3B are optical remote sensing satellites built by the CAST for Algeria. The spacecraft were manufactured in China and operate under the Algerian national space program.

The satellite forms part of the AlSat-3 Remote Sensing System, which is intended to provide high-resolution Earth observation data. Its primary objectives include land-use planning, environmental monitoring, and support for disaster prevention and mitigation activities in Algeria, but also for military purposes. The system is designed to improve national capabilities in managing natural resources and responding to natural hazards.

AlSat-3 are optical low Earth orbit Earth observation satellites. They carry a multispectral imaging payload for civilian remote sensing applications. The spacecrafts are three-axis stabilized.

The satellite was manufactured by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), a major spacecraft developer under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The program was led by China Great Wall Industry Corporation as prime contractor, with participation from the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology and China Satellite Launch and Tracking Control General. The spacecraft uses established Chinese optical remote sensing satellite platforms and interfaces with a dedicated ground segment supplied as part of the overall system.

AlSat-3A was launched on 15 January 2026 aboard a CZ-2C (3) launch vehicle. The launch took place from Jiuquan. It was successfully inserted into its predetermined orbit. AlSat-3B followed on 31 Januara 2026.
