CIRBE

CIRBE [CU Boulder]

CIRBE (CubeSat Inner Radiation Belt Experiment) is a 3U-CubeSat designed and developed by students of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU-Boulder) as a scientific investigation mission to understand the formation of the inner belt electrons, and to determine the source, intensity, and dynamic variations of these electrons in the inner Van Allen radiation belts. No instrument traversing the heart of the inner radiation belt is immune to effects from highly energetic proton contamination.

It was selected in 2019 by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to be launched as part of the ELaNa program.
