Gama Alpha [Gama]

Gama Alpha [Gama]
Gama Alpha is a technology demonstration mission for solar sail technology.
The objective of this mission is to test the sail's deployment mechanism, as well as the deployment of a 73.3 square meter solar sail in low earth orbit. Gama Alpha employs a spin-sail solution, in which the sail is deployed by slowing rotating the satellite and using centrifugal force. There are no stabilizing struts.
