HErO was a 1U CubeSat developed by students of Hiroo Gakuen Junior & Senior High School in Japan as an educational outreach mission. The satellite was intended to demonstrate optical communication using ground-observable LEDs while providing hands-on experience in satellite engineering for secondary school students.
It was launched on the third flight of the KAIROS launch vehicle but failed to reach orbit.
