Weihai 1 [CASIC]
Weihai 1-01 and 1-02 are two technology test satellites built by CASIC to test laser intersatellite communications.
Weihai-1 01 and 02 are two satellites that operate in tandem. Each weighs roughly 95 kg and has built-in satellite-to-ground and inter-satellite laser communication capabilities. They carry high-resolution optical cameras and other payloads to detect and identify marine targets in real time using onboard artificial intelligence.
The satellites were launched on 3 February 2024 on a Jielong-3.
