The title is Philips Guide to Flags of the World,
or, depending on how one interprets the design of the cover, just
Guide to Flags of the World. The official title is the
former (vd. colophon) but the casual browser will not know
this.
The authorship of the overall content is unclear, as it is in
comparable books (e.g.): While
the flag images are dully credited to disparate entities
(q.v.), there is no name onto whom peg credit and liability
for the book as a whole. The colophon says:

And I add:
224 pages (and thus numbered)
Format: 199×128×16 mm
National flag images are credited to The
Flag Institue («supplied by», as proeminently displayed on the
cover), while subnationals and internationals are copyrighted by
Raymond Turvey; the remaining illustrations (signal flag images and
maps) are Philips own and the postage stamps that illustrate most
national flag pages (apart from the flag image itself) are credited
to Stanley Gibbons.
The book opens with an illustrated diagram about flag design,
titled Anatomy, and a short overview of Vexillology
basics, A Brief History of Flags (p.4-5)
quite the usual of these books , and then follows an
interesting and quite original index of flags sorted by overall
design (p.6-11).
After a couple of maps, national flags take the lions share of
this book, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe (p.16-208): Each country
gets a page, with name, flag info (ratio, use and dates), large
image of the flag (eq. height = 5 cm), text covering both the flag
and country History in general (the latter taking more than half in
most pages) a postage stamp of the country
and country quick info box.
Then follows (p.209-218) a chapter on selected subnational
flags (Britain,
United States,
Canada and
Australia), with eight flag images
per page giving also terse info state trivia for
the US, ratio and adoption date for the rest.

The protocol manual for the London 2012
Olympics (Flags and Anthems Manual London 2012) provides
recommendations for national flag designs. Each
NOC was sent an image of the flag,
including the PMS shades, for their approval by LOCOG. Once this was
obtained, LOCOG produced a 60×90 cm version of the flag for
further approval. So, while these specs may not be the official,
government, version of each flag, they are certainly what the
NOC believed the flag to be. Ian Sumner, 10 Oct 2012

(2) Title: Raising the Standard : How to avoid hanging an embarrassing emblem Medium: article in a non-vexillological source: periodical Language:English Source title:The Economist Source number (date): (2023) Source pages: 12 Source edition (publisher: place): The Economist Newspaper Limited: London (United Kingdom) Format: 486×642 (ratio)
A very funny text, riddled with alliterations, puns, and other
stylistic novelties, light-hearted but not vapid, and summing up
neatly what most of us, as euvexillography activists, often
struggle to put in words outsiders can understand. António Martins, 13 Dec 2024
I have the distinct impression that whoever wrote this text
gleaned heavily from Ted Kaye’s Good Flag, Bad Flag
[kay20], and maybe also from
FotW-ws (i.a. from page
[qq-rb.html]). António Martins, 15 Dec 2024
In the online 29 July - 11 Aug 2023 issue of The
Economist in the “Leaders” section there is the
flag-related article of “How
to design better flags — Some tips to avoid having an
embarrassing emblem.» It is not included in the
paper magazine copy
edition of 29 July! Instead, for unknown reasons to me, it is
in the paper, handheld, newsstand, magazine edition of
July 1st - 7th 2023 issue with a
different title in the “Leaders” section
of “Flags — Raising the Standard — How to avoid
hanging an embarrassing emblem” on page 12. William Garrison, 14 Dec 2024
(Maybe they mean to keep some sense of (temporary) exclusivity
to the paper edition by delaying the publication in the website
of stories that are not breaking news…?) Eitherway,
it would seem that the only differences in the two versions of
this article are in the title and in the exact illustration (both
show the state flag of New Mexico). António Martins, 15 Dec 2024
On the 29 July 2023 online issue, the front-cover
topic/title is “The Overstretched CEO”, whereas on the
July 1st 2023 magazine issue the front-page topic/title is
“The Humbling of Vladimir Putin” which can be seen online. William Garrison, 14 Dec 2024
Interesting to note that this half-page text merited a call on
the cover (on both the European
and U.S.
editions), unexpectedly, as one of only four such emphasized matters,
besides the main story. António Martins, 15 Dec 2024
