Hässelkulla (Hesselkulla) järngruva

Skarn iron ores. This locality has produced many classical dipyramidal smoky quartz (morion) up to 6-7 cm, amethysts, calcites and fluorite specimens.

It was already in production in the 16th century, but due to a lack of manpower and equipment to keep the mine drained, it was very intermittently operated until 1741. From then on it was mined continuously until 1865.

Note: Hesselkulla is the older spelling for the locality. Sometimes it is also called "Västra Hässelkulla" (Western) to distinguish it from the Hässelkulla copper mine.
