For some geology information see Red Terror Mindat locality which is a few hundred metres to the south-east. Modern exploration companies note prospector mining at Black Boy from 1938-39, but no recorded production or historic workings have been found. The area was explored by BMR, then ADL late 1960's to mid 1970's, and Posgold early 1990's. No significant mineralisation was found.
