Ref.: USGS OFR 98-287(Freeman,1998).

A W mine located just north of the summit of Gilmore Dome in the SW¼ SW¼ of sec. 21, T.2N., R.2 E., Fairbanks Meridian. Discovered in 1915.

Accessible by road from Steese Highway, up Gilmore Creek.

Scheelite-bearing lode in crystalline marble bed in schist with intervals consisting of calcite, pyroxenite, hornblende, and quartz associated with granular sheelite ore, quartz pegmatite, and silicified mica schist.

1915-1918 inclined shafts driven on down dip of lode. 1942-1944, a 120 foot inclined shaft sunk with levels at 50' and 150'. Had underground workings of about 2,000 feet by 1957.
