A locality for quartz crystals with green phantoms situated about 50 km west of the town Ambatofinandrahana in the southwestern part of the central highland of Madagascar.

Note on the spelling of the locality name:
The spelling Ihovitra which is used in the reference, may be a mispelling; it is more likely to be Ivohitra which is a common name of high hills in Madagascar. The variety Iovitra which has been used, is a misnomer.

The green inclusion:
Questions have been raised on the identity of the green micaceous mineral that occurs as inclusions in quartz crystals from this site. Samples have been labelled as celadonite, fuchsite and chlorite. See discussion at messageboard at https://www.mindat.org/mesg-301731.html. An analysis by Raman microspectroscopy at the GIA labs in 2009 has showed these to be fuchsite, a chromium bearing muscovite (Renfro 2009).
