Roselle Mine

A tungsten mine that produced ore from 1904-1955.

The geology of this mine is of Jurassic and Tertiary Granitic rock.

Structure: Two Sets Of Faults. One Strikes N.0-30 Deg W. The Other N. 70 Deg. W. - N 70 Deg. E. Dip Steep. Offset Few Feet.

Alteration: Host Rock Greisinized Near Vein.

Commodity: Wolframite occurs in crystals As much As 4 inches long. Masses weighing 100 pounds occur.

Deposit: Ore deposits consist of pods of wolframite in narro W quartz veins. Scheelite is in rock bounding veins. Greisen zones might be As thick As the quartz veins. Veins range in thickness from a fraction of an inch to As much As 29 inches.

Geology: All granites similar in mineralogy containing quartz, oligoclase, orthoclase and biotite with some microcline, perthite , muscovite, zircon, apatite, and pyrite.
