The Lake Superior Copper Company was organized in 1848 to work a portion of the Minesota Mining Company land. Originally, the mine was known as the Minesota Location B as it worked the Evergreen Lode and the Minesota Vein. Little was done with the property until 1856 when the mine was sold to the Superior Mining Company and the mine name changed to Superior Mine. If the rock piles can be located, copper and datolite in various colours can be found.
