Name(s) in local language(s):
Πάνορμος, Μύκονος, Κυκλάδες, Ελλάδα.
Small abandoned tunnel working a 2-3m wide vein of bladed barite. On the coast, at the northern side of the cove of Panormos.
The banded veins cut the exposed marine to terrestrial Miocene conglomeratic sequence. The barite vein mineralization was formed from 11 to 10 Ma when the Mykonos monzogranite was exhumed and crossed the ductile to brittle transition below the North Cycladic detachment system.
Note to be confused with Panormos Bay on Tinos Island.
