Minesota Mine
The Vulcan Mining Company was organized in 1846 after it purchased half of the Baltimore Mining Company's land. In 1848, an old cave was discovered where several copper tools and hammerstones were found, left by the prehistoric miners of the area. Later explorations of the property found a great quantity of silver. No actual mining is reported to have taken place on the property before 1848 when the property became the famous Minesota Mine.
