A former surface perlite mine located in secs. 7, 8 & 17, T2S, R12E, about 3½ mile SW of Superior near the SW side of Picketpost Mountain, on National Forest land.
NOTE: Perlite deposits in the vicinity of Picketpost Mountain may contain Apache Tears.
Mineralization is perlite hosted in Arnett Rhyolite. The perlite is light grey to milky-white. Strongly developed spheroidal perlitic structures, from a millimeter to several tens of centimeters in diameter, are successively superimposed on one another. The main mass of perlite contains several percent water.
