PRIVATE PROPERTY, NO TRASPASSING! NO LONGER OPEN FOR TOURS. THE TOUR OPERATOR SOLD THE PROPERTY AND THE NEW OWNER DOES NOT WANT PEOPLE ON THEIR LAND!

Abandoned gold mine. Reopened on May 21, 2014, for guided tours and mineral collecting.

In quartz veins cutting quartzite, granite.
"Native gold, in the form of leaves, sheets, and nuggets (the size of a butternut), was at one time found in this deposit. Pyrite was associated with it." (Sabina, 1987).

Not to be confused with Richardson Mine in Cardiff (a uranium mine).

1866 - 1868: Mr. Powell discovered gold mineralization on the Richardson property. A shaft was excavated on the showing to a depth of 15 feet. The property was sold to Lombard and Hardin of Chicago.
