Situated in the northeast section of the Luoding-Guangning deformation system, which occurs near and subparallel to the northeasterly trending Wuchuan-Sihui fault zone. Exposed strata in the area are principally Sinian (Precambrian) and Lower Paleozoic. The metamorphic Sinian strata, consisting of various schists and migmatitic rocks, are the most important hosts of the gold deposits. Except for the Hehai deposit, which is an auriferous quartz vein-type deposit, all the gold deposits in the Hetai field belong to the disseminated hydrothermally altered mylonite-type.
