A mesothermal Au-bearing quartz vein. It is 0.30 to 1 m wide and is hosted in slate on its western side and dolerite on the eastern side.
It has been worked on for about 200 m and at a place to a depth of 40 m.

This was the first place where gold was found on Bømlo, in 1862 by an unknown miner from Modum running a little copper prospect in this quartz vein. Mining didn't start before in 1882 when it was found again by Hansen and Reitan, two telegraphists running a small copper prospect on another quartz vein called Oscars-gangen.
