Hydrothermal vein-type copper-silver-polymetallic deposit, located in a secondary uplift of the Tuquan Mesozoic volcanic depression of the Daban-Wulanhaote volcanic belt. The deposit-controlling structures can be divided into three groups, i.e, NE-, NW-, and EW-trending fracture zones. Early Yanshannian porphyry intrusives are well developed in the district; they consist of diorite porphyry, granodiorite porphyry, markfieldite (U-Pb zircon isochron age: 161.8 Ma), and adamellitic porphyry. The exposed strata are early Permian meta-andesite (Dashizhai formation), dacite tuff and tuffaceous sandstone, and Middle to Late Jurrasic volcanic and sedimentary rocks. There are more than 30 orebodies, striking NW and dipping NE.
Contains at least 0.63 Mt Cu and 27.84 t Ag, with grades of 0.84 % Cu and 46.09 g/t Ag. Over 30 Cu sulfide vein orebodies have been identified at Lianhuashan, with the No. 36 ore vein being the largest and the most economic. This orebody contains parallel veins of 1100–1500 m long and 300–500 m wide. The veins strike NW and dip NE at angles of 60–70°, with an average grade of 1.09 % Cu and 78.90 ppm Ag. Four stages of mineralization are identified: (I) arsenopyrite–quartz, (II) chalcopyrite–pyrite–quartz, (III) chalcopyrite–pyrite–sphalerite–galena–quartz, and (IV) ore-barren sulfide-quartz-carbonate.
