Altered shear zone-type gold deposit, controlled by the Zhaoping fault zone and secondary faults on the footwall side. The Zhaoping fault strikes NE to NNE and separates the Archaean Jiaodong Group meta-volcanics on the hanging wall from the Linglong granite on the footwall. Gold mineralization is associated with sheared pyrite-sericite-quartz alteration zones parallel to the main fault surface within the Linglong granite. The Xiadian mine is separated into four sub-districts, comprising from north to south, the Qingcaogou sub-district, the Daobeizhuangzi sub-district, the Xiadian sub-district and the Lingqueshan sub-district. Current resources and production are based mostly on the Xiadian sub-district; the other three sub-districts are still in their exploration stages.

The lithology of the Xiadian region is primarily comprised of the Precambrian Jingshan Group, Jiaodong Group, and Late Jurassic Linglong granite. The mineralization exhibits characteristics of disseminated and stockwork mineralization, similar to other gold deposits in the Jiaodong Peninsula. The major orebodies and associated alterations are situated in the proximate quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration zone, strategically positioned near the Zhaoping fault. The disseminated orebodies (with an average Au grade of 3.4 g/t, thicknesses ranging from 1 to 47 m and extending up to 1400 m down plunging) exhibit lenticular, steroid-shaped forms, and are subparallel to the main fault zone. Their distribution is predominantly controlled by a combination of brittle-ductile deformations of the Zhaoping fault zone.
The paragenetic evolution of mineralization and alteration consists of four stages distinguished by mineral assemblages and crosscutting relationships: (1) K-feldspar-albite stage, (2) Quartz-sericite-chlorite-K-feldspar stage, (3) Gold-quartz-sericite-sulfides stage, and (4) Quartz-carbonates stage.

Orebodies within the Xiadian Au deposit predominantly comprise Nos. Ⅶ, Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Beijiang orebodies, exhibiting vein-type, quasi-lamellar, tabular, and lenticular geometries. These orebodies intermittently extend from the surface plunging down to approximately 1400 m, displaying a northeast-southeast striking and plunging orientation.

The Au mineralization at Xiadian is predominantly disseminated, with minor occurrences of vein-type/stockwork. The disseminated orebodies, typified by the No. Ⅶ orebody (average grade 3.51 g/t), is situated within the proximal quartz-sericite-pyrite alteration zone in the footwall of the Zhaoping main fault. In contrast, vein-type orebodies, exemplified by the Beijiang orebody present as auriferous quartz-polysulfides veinlets. This mineralization type exhibits extensive depth extension, with a smaller scale and higher grades (2.1–17.9 and average 9.2 g/t) compared to disseminated types.
