Red Bird Mine; Bird Tungsten Mine; Copper Mining Co. - 0530770107, Clara - 0530770026

A copper-tungsten mine above Copper City near the crest of Miner's Ridge.

It worked mineralization in a series of parallel and diverging quartz veinlets in a hydrothermally altered shear-zone.

Development includes the 450' Lower Bird adit, 80' Middle Bird adit; 160' Upper Bird adit, the Red Bird adit, 9 cuts and 2 shafts.

650lbs of sheelite were shipped in 1940.

Alteration: Potassic, Phyllic, Propylitic

Tectonics: Cascade Volcanic Arc

Deposit: Series of parallel and diverging veinlets are present in hydrothermally altered shear zone 7-8 ft wide and traceable for 2,000 ft see also mrds record mp00249. Mrds records w017917, d000706 have been merged with this record and deleted

Deposit type: Porphyry Cu-Mo

Rock formation(s): Bumping Lake Pluton
