The now discredited Imerinite (see https://www.mindat.org/min-30900.html) was described from this locality. The amphibole was found enclosed in a metamorphic limestone located around Ambatoarina (Lacroix 1922: "environs d'Ambatoarina"), about 2-3 km from the confluence of the Mahanoro and the Vatomaro river along the old road going from Ambositra to Ambatofangehana.
This locality is not the same as the locality for "Ambatoarinite", see Ambatoarina (http://www.mindat.org/loc-156777.html)

Samples of "Imerinite" are often labelled as coming from "Imerina, Madagascar". Imerina was the name of the ancient Merina Kingdom in the high plateaux of Madagascar which Ambatoarina is a part of.

Note on the "Imerinite"
At the time of Leake (1978) imerinite was descredited as identical with magnesio-arfvedsonite. But after that date several revisions of the amphibole group has taken place. Recently, by IMA in 2014, the magnesio-arfvedsonite was redefined. The redefined magnesio-arfvedsonite is not the same as the "magnesio-arfvedsonite" by Leake (1978). One specimen of "Imerinite" analyzed by RRUFF turned out to be ferri-winchite. There are probably several amphibole species that occurs at the site. Newer analysis is need to establish which species in the amphibole supergroup imerinite should be labelled as.
