Waterbank mine may have been at work from the late 1730's. Since that date this small mine has been worked at various dates from 1836. The last reference to the mine was in 1891 when the machinery was sold. Waterbank mine was developed by a sough (adit), and by at least 3 shafts, one to the 45 fathom level.

Note: A number of undefined minerals have been found at this mine since the late 1980's.
- XRD and SEM of a yellow mineral indicated a possible intermediate between otavite and smithsonite.
- A number of supposed schulenbergite specimens when subjected to XRD could not be ascribed to this species.
- A blue-green crystalline mineral could not be identified by XRD. Electron probe work has indicated that mineral contains major Zn with some Cu, S, P, Si, Na, and Pb.
