Late Paleozoic metasedimentary manganese ore hosted in Sambagawa metamorphic rocks.

Al- and Mn-rich sugilites have been reported from the Furumiya mine (Hirowatari & Fukuoka, 1989). Their chemical compositions possibly correspond to aluminosugilite (Nagashima et al., 2020) and "manganisugilite" [='Unnamed (Mn3+-dominant analog of Sugilite)'] based on the ratios of the A site cations such as Al, Fe3+ and Mn3+. The Al2O3 and Mn2O3 contents in Furumiya sugilite reach 5.364 wt% and 7.84 wt%, respectively.
