A large playa lake.
The Mount Gunson Copper mines are located west of the lake.
Many large specimens of orange, white, and greenish gypsum crystals are widespread on the market, commonly labelled as Mt. Gunson or Pernatty Lagoon.
Most specimens of the green variety are from the settling ponds and flooded open pit of the West Lagoon mine. However, some pale green specimens have been found in Pernatty Lagoon near the West Lagoon mine site (most likely due to leaching of copper-rich tailings from the mine site into the lagoon area).
Note: "A major Victorian dealer, who mined out the Chinkapook deposit, then sold the specimens as being from Pernatty Lagoon to hide this fact (...). As far as I am aware, the only locality in Australia to produce the orange coloured crystals is Chinkapook." (Peter Andersen in https://www.mindat.org/mesg-719511.html).
