Abandoned quarry showing good exposure of the upper part of the Cambrian Eau Claire Formation. The formation is a cross-bedded quartz sandstone with interbreeds of shale and mudstone. Was quarried for sand and crushed stone. Outcrops along the Red Cedar River to the south of the highway reveal more of the formation.
