Active (2018) quarry in the Ordovician Prairie du Chien Group dolostones. Posted "No trespassing", rigorously enforced. Notably salt crystal casts are found in fine-grained dolostone in a road cut immediately west of the quarry. The quarry also exposes enormous fossil stromatolite mounds. There is also good developing of druzy quartz crystals and "cold water agate" seams in replaced stromatolites. Locally in the quartz-lined cavities there are small pyrite and marcasite crystals that are pseudomorphically replaced by goethite.
