Blue Bell-Belcher Mine

A gold-iron mine near the head of Lambert Creek. It worked 2 or 3 irregular replacement bodies in a contact-metamorphic series of limestone and shales cut by monazite dikes. Development includes 3 adits and a shaft aggregating about 4,000'. This mine had considerable production in 1909-1911, and 1913-1917.

Note: Not to be confused with the Belcher Mine in the San Poil district.

Tectonics: Eocene Felsic Rocks Intruded Permian-Triassic Metasedimentary And Metavolcanic Rocks Of The Republic Graben (Meussig, 1967, Geol. Map).

Deposit: The permian-triassic rocks of the belcher mine area are contact-metamorphosed limestone, dolomitic limestone, argillite, and graywacke. The ore bodies lie next to a network of dikes, sills, and intrusive bodies of scatter creek rhyodacite (meussig, 1967, p. 113). ; info.src : 1 pub lit

Development: ECON.COM: CONSIDERABLE PRODUCTION IN 1909-1911 AND 1913-1917 (HUNTTING, 1956, P. 195)

Ore(s): Two Or Three Irregular Replacement Bodies Are Present In Limestone In A Sequence Of Contact-Metamorphosed Limestone And Argillite Cut By Monzonite Dikes. Iron Sulphides Are More Abundant Than Magnetite (Huntting, 1956, P. 195).
