Uranium deposit located 5 km NNE of Vernet-la-Varenne, near the small village of Chaméane.

Small workings and dumps in the woods.

GPS coordinates are for the village of Chaméane.

The mineralization at Chaméane consists of three cycles separated by tectonic movements:

- The first stage in granite corresponds to a baryte/pitchblende vein.
- Then brecciated and replaced by quartz with minor sulphides in stage 2.
- And finally reopened vein system with deposition of carbonates (dolomite/ankerite) in stage 3. That late episode is the main bearer of selenides.

Note on the mineral list: Agrinier and Geoffroy (1965), page LIX, list the occurrence of a hydrated uranium selenite with no other elements (haynesite?) in the workings.
