Pb-Zn-Cu bearing quartz veins, hosted by lower carboniferous clay schists. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the veins were worked for copper and lead by the "St Andreas", "Neuer Segen des Herrn", "Thomas" and "Johannes der Täufer" mines. Today, only a dump of the latter remains.

Located in the Köstenbach valley near Schmölz, 4.5 km ESE of Wallenfels and about 14 km ENE of Kronach.
