Boulders and outcrops of eclogites of the Münchberg metamorphic complex near the summit of Weißenstein mountain.

Located 1.5 km SSW of Stammbach and around 10 km SW of Münchberg.

Eclogite relicts in amphibolites/gneisses from the Hangendserie (upper series) of the inverted nappe pile.

Eclogite facies: 25 kb, 590-660°C, high aH2O; overprint of amphibolite facies.

NOTE: The Bavarian State Office for the Environment (Bayerischen Landesamt für Umwelt, LfU) has designated the summit region and the eclogite on the Weißenstein as a particularly valuable geotope (geotope number: 475A029).
Collecting is strictly prohibited.
