A former stone deposit/quarry previously owned by National Gypsum Company, it was purchased by Lafarge in 1987. Lafarge operated the quarry through 1994 mining Antrim shale. Reclamation started in the late 1990's. Since 2003, the quarry has been further reclaimed, and is now in a "semi-native" state. It is now a Wildlife Habitat Council "Certified Site", and has quickly become a popular park for fishing and grade school field trips. However, Lafarge still owns the land, so this is hardly a public park.
