Large find of gem (red, pink and bicolored) tourmalines was reported from a locality west of the town Ogbomosho in the late 1990s. Mostly a characteristic smoky pink color, but some bicolor crystals occurred as well. Most showed some abrasion suggesting the occurrence was largely alluvial.
