". Texto entrecomillado: Juan A.M. Barnestein.

Translation into English:
"On the north face of the Djebel Zelmou mountain next to the N10 road, north of the Moroccan border with Algeria, there is a mine where large seams of barite containing veins of hematite are exploited. We do not know the age of this exploitation. In 2010 we visited it and it was completely abandoned. Later we visited it in 2016 and it was in full activity due to a resurgence in the barite trade that activated several exploitations in Morocco. The exploitation consists of large trenches at ground level which reach more than a dozen meters in depth. About 8 kilometers north of this mine is one of the largest barite deposits in North Africa, the Zelmou-Ambej deposit (Bolata, 1995)".
