A large part of the municipal territory of Trana is made of serpentinite, which consists of lamellar antigorite in association with various accessory minerals (pyroxene, forsterite, amphibole, epidotes, chlorite, magnetite, awaruite, and Ni-bearing sulfides). Serpentine schist, metagabbro, and greenschist facies metabasites (prasinites) occur in the area between Belvedere locality and Monte Pietraborga.

Some rodingite bodies, consisting of main garnet and epidote with chlorite and diopside as accessory minerals, are observable in the quarry area (northern foot of Monte Pietraborga), and also near Belvedere locality and on the Monte Pietraborga slopes. Other rodingite bodies have been observed (Franchi & Novarese, 1895; Dal Piaz, 1967) in the Monte della Croce serpentinite, to the south of Pratovigero.
