| ⓘ Albite Formula: Na(AlSi3O8) References: |
| ⓘ 'Allanite Group' Formula: (A12+REE3+)(M13+M23+M32+)O[Si2O7][SiO4](OH) References: |
| ⓘ 'Amphibole Supergroup' Formula: AB2C5((Si,Al,Ti)8O22)(OH,F,Cl,O)2 Description: Amphiboles range up to 10 modal percent with biotite and aegirine-rich pyroxene in the leucocratic nepheline gneisses, and may be as much as 55 percent in the mafic and feldspar-poor nepheline gneisses
where they occur with grandite and aegirine-augites closer to soda augite. The amphiboles are black in hand specimens and may form a lineation.
Hastingsite (as defined by Leake, 1968) and iron-rich alkaline amphibole are the only types present. The leucocratic nepheline gneisses contain amphiboles richest in Na and Fe3+. (Holm, 1971) References: |

| ⓘ 'Ferro-ferri-sadanagaite' ? Formula: {Na}{Ca2}{Fe2+3Fe3+2}(Al3Si5O22)(OH)2 Description: Holm (1974) provide a wet-chemical analysis corresponding to ferro-ferri-sadanagaite:
SiO2, 37.02%
TiO2, 1.64%
Al2O3, 17.29%
Fe2O3, 7.79%
FeO, 14.94%
MnO, 0.53%
MgO, 5.19%
CaO, 9.46%
Na2O, 3.38%
K2O, 2.4%
When this is normalized (using Locock 2014), the empirical formula becomes (Na0.592K0.469)Σ1.061 (Ca1.552Na0.411Mn0.038)Σ2.001 (Feii1.913Mg1.184FeIII0.897Al0.786Ti0.189Mnii0.031)Σ5 (Si5.667Al2.333)Σ8 O22 ((OH)1.622O0.378)Σ2. With exception of a slightly high A content (1.061 apfu), Holm's data normalizes well. However, his other analyses show a too high C3+ content, and the interpretation of this analysis as ferro-ferri-sadanagaite is therefore questioned.

MnO, 1.06%
MgO, 1.06%
CaO, 5.53%
Na2O, 5.1%
K2O, 2.8%
When this is normalized (using Locock 2014), the empirical formula becomes (K0.55Na0.434)Σ0.984 (Na1.088Ca0.912)Σ2 (FeIII2.404Feii1.191Al0.526Mg0.243Ti0.192Mnii0.138)Σ4.694 (Si5.785Al2.215)Σ8 O22 ((OH)1.615O0.385)Σ2. This gives a low total in the C position ( 4.694) of which 3.122 apfu is trivalent. Both of these indicate analytical errors. |

With exception of a slightly high A content (1.018 apfu), Holm's data normalizes well. However, his other analyses show a too high C3+ content, and the interpretation of this analysis as potassic-ferro-sadanagaite is therefore questioned. References: |
