Coal was discovered and small quantities mined from 1888.

Combustion metamorphic rocks due to the burning of coal seams in prehistoric times.

The coal mine was closed in 2016 as a result of the decommissioning of the Augusta Power Stations.

The mine is in the process of remediation.
