The locality is in the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and Preserve.
Location: This prospect is on the north valley wall of Wiley Creek, an east tributary to White River. The site is at an elevation of about 5,600 feet, 3,600 feet west-northwest of elevation 7554 and 1,200 feet south of the center of section 23, T. 2 S., R. 20 E. of the Copper River Meridian. This is locality 152 of MacKevett (1976); the location is approximate, perhaps within a few thousand feet.
Geology: The deposit at this prospect is in shale associated with altered and shattered amygdaloidal flow rock. The shale has sulfides that are mostly arsenopyrite but chalcocite veinlets have also been reported (Capps, 1916). The deposits are in upper Paleozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks. The prospect has been explored by small open cuts (Capps, 1916; MacKevett, 1978).
Workings: The deposits were explored by small open cuts to 12 feet long (Capps, 1916).
Age: Late Paleozoic or younger based on the age of the host rocks.
