A former Fe occurrence/mine in goethite (limonite) ore. Located north of Mt Riga, between Boston Corner & Mt Riga.

This pit has sometimes been called the “Upper Kelly” mine. On the authority of Mr. Theron Moore, who was recently the manager of the Weed mine and whose father operated the “Kelly” mine, the ore was found in pockets which were interrupted in a most irregular fashion. The ore was, moreover, intricately mixed with decomposed slate rock. This decomposed mica schist now covers the extensive dump, and is the normal type of Berkshire schist closely cut by joint planes in the manner already described for the “Ore Hill” mine.
