This was initially a separate gold mine, before being combined into the Jundee Gold Mine complex.
Hunter Resources discovered gold on the Nimary tenements initially as a 3 kilometre by 1.5 kilometres anomaly. Drilling uncovered four deposits, they named Nim 1, Nim 2, Nim 3, Nim 4. In 1993, they entered a joint venture with Eagle Mining and Matlock Mining to develop the deposits, with mining commencing in October 1995. In 1996, Eagle Mining bought out the other partners. In October 1997, Eagle Mining was taken over by Great Central Mines for A$330 million, operating the neighbouring Jundee Gold Mine. This was financed by Normandy Mining, who took a 25% interest.
In January 1999, Normandy and Joseph Gutnick through his private firm Edensor launched a takeover bid for Great Central Mines through an entity called Yandal Gold, gaining control by May 1999. By April 2000, Normandy has sole control over the mine.
During this period, new resource discoveries were made, named Kestrel, Gateway, Nim 6, new deposits under the Nim 3 and Hughes pits, then in 2001 the Westside gold system, and gold at depth called Barton Deeps.
