A chert mine, which was started in 1778 and ceased operations in 1960, although some ore was still sold until 1964. For some time, it was worked together with Holme Hall Mine, which mined the same deposit and adjoined it to the south and east. The quarry, where workings started in the 18th century, is located at the northwestern boundary of the sett.
In total, the mine excavated 450,000 tons of material and sold 150,000 tons of chert.
