Ampanivana area is located south of Andrembesoa.

Ampanivana is both the name of a small village about 2 km S of Antananolofotsy and about 14 km S of Antsetsindrano, and the name of a river South of this village.

In the area there is a famous pegmatite: the Ampanivana pegmatite.

South of the river, close to the Mania River, there is an area with marbles (cipolins). Another area with marbles is located southwest of the village. There are also different skarn outcrops in the area that have produced mineral specimens.

In 1999 very nice pieces of marbles with blue spinels, clinohumites and forsterite started to show up in Antsirabe. Some dealers said they were coming from the Ampanivana area, other reliable sources could tell that the very locality was a place called Itrafo, closer to the Mania River than Ampanivana village.
