Abandoned iron ore mines (Theresiengrube and Annagrube) in limestone (Nummulitenkalk), already active in medieval times. Located on Grünten mountain, east of Burgberg.
The oolitic iron ore is a red-violet, rusty or brown-red colored rock of the mineralized nummulite limestone. With iron contents of up to 34%, the ore layers are hardly thicker than 1 m. The limonitic ooids were formed as concretions in the weathering covers with the help of bacteria. The mineral composition includes: 'limonite', hematite, chamosite, quartz, calcite.
Now a tourist mine, Am Sonnenbichl.
