A gold mine between the Black Tail and Pearl Mines. It worked 5 veins in propylitic andesite that are from 2-14' wide and composed of chalcedonic quartz, transversed by narrow black crenulated ribbons. Development includes more than 2,500 linear feet of underground workings principally on two adits and a shaft. It produced $137,000 to 1910, 1935. Total production is listed to be 62,000 tons at 0.35 oz/ton gold and 2.26 oz/ton silver.
Tectonics: Epithermal Deposit Of The Republic District Are Found In Eocene Sanpoil Volcanics. (See Republic District For Additional Details.)
Deposit: Host rocks for gold deposits of the republic district are dacite and andesite flows, flow breccias, tuffs, and tuff breccias of the eocene sanpoil volcanics (muessig, 1967, p. 50-51; tschauder, 1989, p. 242). ; info.src : 1 pub lit
Development: Econ.com: produced $137,000 worth of ore by 1910; produced again in 1935 (huntting, 1956,p. 122).
Ore(s): Five Veins In Propylitically Altered Andesite Are From 2 To 14 Ft. Wide And Consist Of Chalcedonic Quartz Traversed By Narrow, Black, Crenulated Ribbons. Most Of The Ore Was Above The 500 Ft Level And Is Stoped Out (Huntting, 1956, P. 122). (See Republic District For Additional Details.)
