Located on and around Millstone Hill, Graniteville is an unincorporated village in the town of Barre, and the epicenter of granite quarrying in the area.

In 1899, there were 8 different granite quarry locations listed in the Graniteville area of Barre. Over the years, the many quarries were renamed, bought out, and merged into larger companies, creating a sometimes confusing trail of company and property names. George Brown Milne is perhaps the best known name in the history of Barre granite quarrying. He was part of the firms Milne, Clarihew & Gray; Boutwell, Milne & Varnum; and Milne & Wylie.

Graniteville is where the famous Rock of Ages (Barre Granite) quarry is located. The firm has welcomed visitors to the works for decades. They offer tours and even an all-stone outdoor bowling ally made from their product.
